At this year's conference, we would like to pay particular attention to the sustainable implementation and organization of the event. We would therefore like to present some aspects of our concept below and ask you to consider the following points in order to organize an environmentally friendly and inclusive congress:
1. Arrival and departure:
On our congress website we offer the event ticket of Deutsche Bahn for a climate-friendly journey. If you have not yet done so, we highly recommend booking this ticket for your arrival and departure to the congress. Book your ticket here.
Alternatively, we would like to invite you to form carpools to minimize CO2 emissions and reduce traffic flow as well.
2. Mobility on site:
Please use public transportation to get to the congress venue and back. The Audimax of the University of Hamburg has excellent connections to the public transportation network.
The following stations are within walking distance of the Audimax:
Bus: Stop “Universität/Staatsbibliothek” or stop “Hamburg Dammtor"
S-Bahn: Stop “Hamburg Dammtor”
From there it is only a few minutes' walk to the Audimax.
3. Catering:
For lunch, we recommend the canteen “Blattwerk”, which is located directly next to the Audimax. It offers a purely vegetarian menu at reasonable prices.
During the coffee breaks and the Get Together, a meat-reduced catering is offered, which also includes vegetarian and vegan alternatives.
Please only take as much from the catering as you can really eat in order to avoid food waste.
4. Waste separation:
Garbage cans for waste separation are available on site. We kindly ask you to use them accordingly in order to optimize the recycling possibilities.
As organizers, we decided not be providing congress bags to further contribute to waste reduction.
Also, for the first time this year, there will be a programme app instead of a printed programme booklet on site, which will significantly reduce paper consumption.
After the congress, you are welcome to return your name badges and lanyards so that they can be recycled or reused.
5. Inclusion:
The venue is fully accessible. There is an elevator and a wheelchair-accessible restroom to provide access for all participants.
If you have specific questions about accessibility or need assistance, please contact our team and we will be happy to help you.
6. Smoking areas:
In order to avoid the risk of passive smoking and to prevent pollution, please smoke only in the smoking areas in front of the Audimax, which are marked accordingly.
We kindly ask you to properly deposit your cigarette ends.
7. Leisure activities:
For your time off from your visit to the congress, we have put together recommendations and tips on our homepage on
how you can experience Hamburg in a sustainable cultural and culinary way.
